History
Mountaineer Investigation & Security, Inc. was established in 1985. The original stockholders were A.C. Bartlett and James Brogan, who were both veteran state troopers, having entered law enforcement in the "Old Days."
A.C. Bartlett retired in 1995, and James Brogan became the sole stockholder of Mountaineer Investigation & Security, Inc.
MIS, Inc. came into fruition as the security answer to the labor disputes of the 1980s and 1990s. The company's reputation for asset protection and photo documentation of labor dispute activities became highly sought after. Evidence submitted to state and federal courts was accepted as factual, and the top labor lawyers in the industry repeatedly requested assistance from MIS, Inc.
MIS, Inc. has the only management force in West Virginia with experience in labor disputes. In the 1980s and 1990s, MIS, Inc. employed approximately 100 retired green berets and delta force members. Surveillance in workers compensation claims, was in high demand and MIS, Inc. provided the only reliable operatives in that industry.
Early on, MIS, Inc. made the decision to concentrate on providing the best service to the coal production industry. James Brogan, President of MIS, Inc., was comfortable in that specific industry and made the decision to rarely venture outside of the coal industry.
MIS, Inc. has had to make adjustments throughout the years to keep up with the market, staying dedicated to coal producers through good and bad times. MIS, Inc. still depends on coal-related clients for 100% of MIS, Inc. operations. However, MIS,Inc. has established new services that are offered across the board, including: Industrial Pressure Washing; Parts-Hauling Delivery; Custodial Duties; Warehousing; Grass Cutting; Construction/Carpentry; and Light Maintenance to our clients.
